Description:

We are looking for an experienced Plant Manager to oversee staff and production as well as ensure the plant’s successful operation. This involves hiring and training workers, evaluating plant productions, and finding ways to make the production process as efficient as possible. As a manager of a printing facility, the chosen individual must ensure that all employees are following safety procedures. In the event of a production problem, they need to be able to find and implement solutions.

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Direct oversight of printing operations and staff
  • Ensure quality product is produced in a safe and timely way to exceed customer expectations
  • Lead the management team on the creation, implementation and ongoing monitoring of plans, goals, and continuous improvement projects
  • Incorporate lean principles, evaluate, implement, and continuously improve production processes and procedures
  • Manage direct reports to include performance management metrics and disciplinary action
  • Create and implement training initiatives and programs for all printing staff
  • Develop and manage budgeting and budget execution with a focus on product costs and margins
  • Ensure that, as the company grows, printing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality, productivity, efficiency and responsiveness
  • Play an active role in senior-level negotiations with vendors, as appropriate
  • Foster an open door environment and solutions based team approach

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a plant manager, plant coordinator/operations manager in a print/publishing environment
  • Excellent skills in short and long term planning for labor, materials, equipment capacities, and overall facility capacities
  • Strong leadership skills, dedication to build a strong team and have excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented and have the ability to work within a fast paced environment
  • Proven ability to oversee plant operations, maintenance, policies, procedures & production goals
  • Technically sound in the following areas: sheetfed and web printing, digital sheetfed and web printing, binding, stitching and inserting equipment
